I was always told my undertone was "difficult." Every foundation came out too orange, too warm, never quite mine. So I started mixing my own.
Around the same time, interning in a dermatology lab at Johns Hopkins, I noticed the same gap in clinical trials — darker skin tones were barely included.
Two problems, one answer: get the undertone right, and test it on all skin tones.
